fce1f2db74deb816ab9edd88d1881079The President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy appeared, on Monday evening on the occasion of his wishes for year 2008, in complete gap with waitings of Frenchmen.

Anxious for their future and having suffered an unsurpassed deterioration of their purchasing power during the past year, Frenchmen will not have found in the presidential address the slightest beginning of answer to their preoccupation of instant : expensive life.

Hollow and worn-down expressions of Nicolas Sarkozy eclipsed a first chaotic balance sheet of its action at the head of the State which is translated by a growth inferior in 2 %, the prices which burn with the upper inflation of 2 % and a record debt of more than 65 % GDPS.

This agreed speech had as main objective to conceal the lot of bad news for our fellow citizens in this January 1st as the increase in the rate of the 4 % gas and the application of  medical franknesses  , by way of new taxes on the sick, which will pay the social insurance contributors.

On the other hand, the President of the Republic was careful not well to recall the measures of austerity (VAT social, increase in SUPPLEMENTARY SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTION and in CRDS) who wait inevitably for Frenchmen immediately after municipal elections, justified by the state of "bankruptcy" of public finances, the cases of the State having been emptied by the government with the "hold-up" which represents the 14 thousand million euro present from the taxman to the richest household last summer.

2008 is a heavy year of threats for the social benefits of Frenchmen. It is strong to bet that what Nicolas Sarkozy calls naively a  policy of civilisation  is translated in fact, by the adjournment of labour laws, of lawful length, of sunday rest and of 35 hours, general regime of retirement and dismantling already well moved forward by social and republican pact.

The responsibility of the left and of the socialists will be to mobilise Frenchmen against these plans of social decline and to cause the government to fail, starting with the municipal elections of next March.
