The Government has just been caused to fail, this morning, in its try of modification of labour laws. Defending its amendments inch by inch, opposition succeeded in getting an adjournment of the vote of the text of law. Under the pretence of simplification, plan changes substantially the contents of the articles of labour laws (competences of the examination of job, conciliation boards in industrial disputes, obligations of hygiene and of security) and prepares the ground for a future dismantling of right in the field.

The "cosmetic" announcements made by the President of the Republic deceived nobody. Deprived of any budgetary room for manoeuvre by the initial political error of the tax packet and its about 15 thousand million granted euro st rilement to richest Frenchmen, the Head of state could nothing offer concrete.
There would be however an immediate and efficient measure : the fall of a point of the rate of VAT. I therefore made an appeal in this direction with my colleagues Benoit Hamon, Henry Emmanuelli and Olivier Dussopt. It would also be necessary to augment wages, to cut the prices of foodstuff, to diminish the cost of the accommodation and to control the prices of energy.
Of visit at a walking pace of load of Fran ois Fillon in Saint- tienne in an ambience of state of siege: what will be kept?
Not big thing, otherwise the masterly howler raised by some national media, when questioned about the ciphering of measures on the purchasing power announced last week by Nicolas Sarkozy, Mr Fillon moved forward the 30 thousand million euro figure!
